Jordan Vogt-Roberts: A Distinguished Name in Film Making
Thousands come to Tinseltown to fulfill their dreams, but the
only handful could make it to the big Hollywood, and Jordan Vogt-Roberts, director of the box-office hit Kong: Skull Island is one
of the few who achieved fame with his exceptional work in a very short period.
This Michigan boy was an enthusiast from his childhood days
only as he used to make stop motion pictures with his Lego toys. He got the
ball rolling with the direction of episodes of two web series Memoirs of a
Manchild (2009-2010) and Book Club (2009-2013) and also produced these
episodes. Most of the episodes of Single Dads (2009-2011) were directed by him.
Inspired by an episode of Memoirs of a Manchild, he made a short
film Mint in the box in 2009 which shows is insight and passion for
filmmaking. After getting encouraged
with the success of his first short flick he wrote and directed another short
film Successful Alcoholics in 2010 which was screened at the Sundance film
festival the SXSW Film Festival, the AFI Fest along with thirty other film
festivals.
Jordan then never looked back and just kept rising the ladder
of success with his amazing talent in direction of many popular shows such as
Comedy Central’s Mashup, Funny or Die Presents for HBO’s CZZZ; Death Valley for
MTV’s and You’re the Worst for FX.
A pass-out of Columbian college made a great impact on the
American film industry with his big-screen directorial debut The Kings of
Summer, an independent coming-of-age comedy-drama. The movie was screened at
Cleveland International Film Festival and Sundance Film festival in 2013 and
was much appreciated by the critics as well as the audience.
His commendable debut work appears on the “best of 2013” list
and even won the Narrative Feature Audience Award at the Dallas International
Film Festival in 2013.
Jordan shows his definite vision by directing a monster film
Kong: Skull Island in 2017. This creature film is a reference to the King Kong
franchise and was produced by Warner Bros. his blockbuster work made a
collection of over $565 million worldwide and was highly applauded by the
Forbes.
This versatile filmmaker has even showcased his aptitude in
the field of advertising as well. He directed commercials for video games
Destiny 2 and Player Unknown’s Battleground, which shows his fondness for them.
He is in his 30s and still holds a passion for the video games which very much
understandable for the guys.
Jordan Vogt-Roberts, director of some of the excellent works, is
teaming up with Michael B. Jordan to come up with a new creature movie for New Regency,
which is still untitled. He has a lot of other projects in the pipeline as
well, out of which one is a film based on Metal Gear for Sony Pictures.
He is the man of many talents who has spectacular pieces of
works to his name in films, television, web, and advertising. He has made an
incredible reputation of himself with his extraordinary work. The critics, as
well as the audience, sees him as someone that can be relied upon to direct
some solid movies worth watching.
